KKR vs SRH, IPL 2025: The 15th match of IPL 2025 will be an exciting clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). KKR and SRH last faced each other in the IPL 2024 final, where Shreyas Iyer’s KKR won comfortably to lift the trophy.
KKR vs SRH: Recap of Their IPL 2024 Final Battle
However, this season has not been smooth for either team. Both have won just one out of their three matches so far. In the points table, SRH sits at eighth, while KKR is at the bottom in tenth place. Rajasthan Royals, who lost to both SRH and KKR, are in ninth place.
Under their new captain Ajinkya Rahane, KKR has struggled with batting. Their opening pair has not matched last year’s performance, and the middle order featuring Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Ramandeep Singh has an average of 17.22 and a strike rate of 117.3.
On the other hand, SRH has also struggled in the powerplays with both bat and ball. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have not clicked together, putting extra pressure on the middle order.
SRH have won 80% of their matches when both Head and Abhishek survive the powerplay, but their win rate drops to 17% when both get out early. With the ball, they have been expensive, and they urgently need to improve.
Looking at the head-to-head record, KKR dominated SRH in IPL 2024, winning all three matches. Overall, KKR has the upper hand with a 19-9 win-loss record against SRH.
After winning the toss, SRH captain Pat Cummins said they would stick to their aggressive batting approach despite their recent struggles. He said:
“We will bowl. Looks like a good surface, but I’m terrible at reading it. They outplayed us in the final, but a bit of change in both sides. We’ve spoken about our batting, we’ve been at our best while being aggressive, but we can’t be reckless. He has been amazing, doesn’t get unfazed by any situation. Coordination is the key, but we do have a clear idea.”
Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane said he was pleased with the pitch conditions as it would support their spinners. He said:
“Looks good, I’m really happy with the pitch, we were also bowling first. It will suit our spinners, at home, you should get what you want, but we’ll need to assess the situation quickly with the bat. We sat together, discussed how we can get better, but this is a long tournament and it was one bad day. Moeen Ali comes in place of Spencer Johnson. Regardless of all plans, we’ll have to come out and do well in the middle.”
