The game of cricket has once again been marred with corruption, this time in the Bim10 tournament. Three individuals related to the Titans in the form of owner Chitranjan Rathod, team official Trevon Griffith and fast bowling all-rounder Javon Searles have been suspended from all cricket after breaching the anti-corruption code during the 2023-24 Bim10 tournament that took place in Barbados.
The Action
The trio was found guilty of breaching the anti-corruption code during the competition, and the offence was brought to the notice of the ICC’s anti-corruption unit and the anti-corruption unit of Cricket West Indies (CWI) as well.
The Charges
Griffin has been charged with an additional offence, which pertains to the international matches by the ICC
All three individuals have been charged for the offences mentioned below
Breach of Article 2.1.1 of the CWI code: fixing, contriving to fix or otherwise influencing improperly, or being a party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive in any way or otherwise influence improperly, the result, progress, conduct or other aspect of matches in the Bim10 tournament in 2023-24 (or attempting to do so)
Breach of Article 2.1.4 of the CWI code: soliciting, instructing, encouraging or facilitating Players and/or Player Support Personnel to commit offences under the CWI code
Breach of Article 2.4.4 of the CWI code: failing or refusing to cooperate with a reasonable investigation carried out by the designated anti-corruption official (or his/her designee) in relation to possible offences under the CWI code
The Additional Charges
Griffith and Searles have been charged with an additional charge under Article 2.4.7, which is related to “failing to disclose to Cricket West Indies details of any approaches or invitations to engage in conduct that would amount to a breach of the CWI code”.

The Punishment
In addition to the above-mentioned charges, Griffith has further been penalised in accordance with Article 2.4.7, which is related to “obstructing the ACU’s investigation into possible corrupt conduct by concealing and/or tampering with information that may have been relevant to the investigation, or which may have constituted evidence or led to the discovery of evidence of corrupt conduct”.
The three individuals now have 14 days, starting from March 11 2026, to appeal against the charges levied on them.
The History
This is the second occasion in the recent past when a player has been charged with corruption, the first one being USA batter Aaron Jones, who has been charged with five charges of the CWI and the ICC anti-corruption code.
Searles has played for West Indies Under 19 and theTrinbago Kingh Riders from 2014 to 2019 and has also represented KKR in the IPL in 2018.
