Kapil Dev, the 1983 World Cup-winning captain, could not hold back his criticism after India lost the second ODI against the West Indies. This series was crucial in an ODI World Cup year for the Indian team, which will be trying to end their ICC title drought. According to the legendary Indian all-rounder, the money involved with the Indian Premier League created arrogance in the players. Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, disputed such accusations, noting that the Indian squad is devoid of arrogance.
Ravindra Jadeja reply to Kapil Dev
Jadeja spoke to the media regarding Kapil’s statement ahead of the third and final ODI. He said, “I don’t know when he has said this. I don’t search these things on social media. See everyone has their own opinion. Ex-player have full right to share their opinion, but I don’t think there is any arrogance in this team.”
In response to the second ODI loss, Jadeja stated, “These things happen, and we’re ready to play our best cricket in the third ODI.”

Kapil had stated in an interview following the loss in the second ODI, “Sometimes, when too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers, they feel they know everything.”
The Indian squad was strongly condemned after losing to the West Indies in the second One-Day International (ODI), which saw both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma rested as new combinations were tested. Many believed that with the ODI World Cup only two months away, such trials were out of the question.
Kapil’s comments in the interview increased the pressure on the Indian players even more. However, according to Jadeja, the players are only interested in doing well for the team and have no personal motivation.
Jadeja supported his teammates once more, saying in his explanation, “Everyone is enjoying their cricket and everyone are hardworking. No one has taken anything for granted. They are giving their 100 percent. Such comments generally come when the Indian team lost a match. This is a good bunch of boys, this is a good group. We are representing India and that is our main aim, there is no personal agenda.”
Too many critiques have already been levelled at Rahul Dravid’s coaching staff. Both Dravid and the Indian team will want to acclimatise fast to the conditions at Trinidad’s Brian Lara Stadium, where they will play their third ODI.
