Ireland has taken a serious hit prior to the IRE vs WI ODI series, with fast bowlers Craig Young and Curtis Campher ruled out with injuries. The ODI series is due to commence on May 21 in Dublin.
Ireland vs West indies Player Replacements Announced
Jordan Neill, a 19-year-old uncapped batter, has been included to replace Craig Young, who suffered a hamstring injury while playing in an Inter-Provincial Cup match.
Stephen Doheny, a wicketkeeper-batter, replaces Curtis Campher, who fractured his finger while batting in the nets on Monday.
Craig Young’s Injury Details

Craig Young picked up his injury while playing for the North West Warriors against Leinster Lightning at Oak Hill. He was forced from the field in the middle of his ninth over; he was 8.5-1-49-1 after claiming the wicket of Barry McCarthy. Scott MacBeth was to finish the over.

Curtis Campher’s Latest Setback, Campher’s finger fracture, came just two days before the start of the series opener, leaving Ireland’s dented fast bowling department depleted further.
Ireland’s Growing Injury List
Ireland’s select panel faces pressure with Mark Adair, Graham Hume, Fionn Hand, and now Young and Campher unavailable. National selector Andrew White admitted his concern, adding that the ODI series will test Ireland’s depth.
“We don’t want to lose players at this stage just before a series, but the good side to the loss of players is that it allows the emerging players to showcase their talents against established international players,” White said.
Captain Paul Stirling Stays Positive
Captain Paul Stirling recognized the difficulty it poses, but views it as an opportunity for new players to experience valuable opportunities.
“It’s unfortunate, but this gives young players a first opportunity that might benefit them in the long run,” Stiling said.
Stephen Doheny’s Return to the Squad
Doheny returns after playing his last ODIs in October against South Africa. He hit a century for Munster Reds against Northern Knights in the domestic 50-over competition. He also played for Ireland A in a tri-series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A.
Jordan Neill Joins Ireland Squad
Neill becomes the fourth uncapped player in the squad after Cade Carmichael, Thomas Mayes, and Liam McCarthy. It emphasizes Ireland’s intent to develop youth during an injury crisis.
