The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a competent Twenty20 cricket tournament in India that has been slated to take place since its original conception in 2008. In the tournament’s fourteen seasons, 54 umpires have umpired at least one Indian Premier League match. Sundaram Ravi has umpired the most games, appointed as an umpire 122 times, while Subroto Das has refereed the fewest, having refereed in one match during the 2013 season. The first IPL match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kolkata Knight Riders was umpired by Asad Rauf and Rudi Koertzen.
29 of the umpires seem to be from India, 7 from Australia, 5 from South Africa, 4 from New Zealand, 3 from England, two from Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and one from Zimbabwe. Sundaram Ravi
Sundaram Ravi’s name is well-established in the squad of wonderful stories from the Indian Premier League. He has been the second Indian umpire to embrace the ICC Elite Board of Umpires, following Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan. Ravi worked there from 2015 to 2019. He has umpired more than 100 international matches in all formats. He was one of the umpires who umpired at the Cricket World Cups in 2015 and 2019. In addition, he has been a member of the Indian Premier League since 2009 and has umpired the most matches, 131 in total.
Anil Chaudhary
Anil Chaudhary is an esteemed figure these days in both domestic and international circles. He is recognised as one of the biggest and best Indian umpires on the ICC’s present international umpire panel. Chaudhary has umpired in a number of international matches, including several ICC tournaments. He was contacted by the ICC to officiate the only T20 game during Australia’s 2013 India tour after actively working as an official for several domestic series and the IPL. This was a high-scoring game in which both teams scored more than 200 runs, but India managed to win by 6 wickets. He managed to play his first One-Day International (ODI) against India in Kanpur later that month. Anil Chaudhary has been an umpire in the Indian Premier League for a long time and has umpired the second most matches, 111 in total.
Kumar Dharmasena
After stepping down from cricket in November 2006, Dharmasena disclosed plans to work as a competitive umpire. Prior to his retirement, he umpired a number of domestic games in Sri Lanka’s major first-class cricket tournament, the Sara Trophy. Kumar Dharmasena, one of the world’s best umpires, has officiated in 94 IPL games since joining the league in 2009. However apart from his colossal error in the 2019 World Cup final, the 50-year-old Sri Lankan is a highly regarded umpire in international cricket, having refereed in over 300 men’s international games.
Chettithody Shamshuddin
C Shamshuddin crafted his Indian Premier League umpiring debut in 2012 and has since established himself as a regular. The 51-year-old Hyderabad umpire has umpired in 89 Indian Premier League games to date. He has also officiated 99 men’s international games and eight women’s international games.
Nitin Menon
Nitin Menon is regarded as one of the finest, if not the best, umpires in India right now. Over the last year, everyone was captivated by his refereeing in the Indian Premier League and home international games. Menon has umpired in 71 Indian Premier League matches since his debut in 2016. The 38-year-old Indore native has umpired in 83 men’s internationals.
