The Indian Premier League is a men’s T20 franchise cricket league in India (IPL). Every year, ten teams from three Indian states and seven Indian cities compete in it. It was founded in 2007 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Brijesh Patel is the current chairman of the IPL.
It has a specific window in the ICC Future Tours Programme and usually takes place in India between March and May each year throughout the summer. In 2010, the IPL became the first sporting event to feature a live YouTube broadcast. The IP L’s brand value in 2022 was 90,038 crores ($11 billion). According to the BCCI, the 2015 IPL season contributed $140 million (or 1,150 crores) to India’s GDP.

Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings is at the top of the list of the lowest defended scores in the IPL. Chennai Super Kings had the opportunity to bat first against Punjab Kings (Formerly Kings XI Punjab) in the 54th game of the IPL 2009, and they put up 116 runs for nine wickets. Although the goal was not difficult to reach, Chennai’s bowlers excelled and held Punjab to 92 runs. Chennai won the game by 24 runs while saving the lowest defended total in IPL history.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad is ranked second in the IPL for holding opponents to the lowest total. In the 23rd IPL game, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians faced off. Hyderabad struggled to score, and Mumbai was given a modest 119-run goal. Mumbai could not handle Hyderabad’s bowlers when they came out to chase the score. The entire team was bowled out for just 87 runs, giving Hyderabad a 31-run victory and placing Mumbai on the list of lowest totals defended in IPL history.
Punjab Kings
Due to their defence of the lowest IPL total ever, Punjab Kings is ranked third. In the 20th IPL 2009 game between Punjab Kings and Deccan Chargers, Punjab had the opportunity to bat first and added 119 runs to the score. Deccan Chargers stepped out to chase, but they battled early on and could only muster 116 runs. Punjab was thus featured in the IPL’s lowest score defended chart and saved the game by 3 runs.
Mumbai Indians
The Mumbai Indians team holds the IPL record for saving the lowest score, placing them in fifth place. Mumbai Indians’ hitters could not put up a significant score against Pune Warriors India in the 45th game of the IPL 2012, finishing with a total of 120 runs. Pune’s response saw them set a 121-run goal. However, they struggled mightily early on and could not keep up the necessary run rate, losing the game by just one run. Lasith Malinga was chosen Man of the Match after Mumbai won the game by one run after successfully defending the lowest total.
