IPL 2025: Umpiring in cricket is often a tough and thankless job. While umpires, both on the field and in the third umpire’s box, play an important role in the game, they rarely get the credit they deserve. A wrong decision draws heavy criticism, but good calls often go unnoticed.
What Is The Salary Of Umpires In IPL 2025
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is no different. With little fan interest in umpiring, many might not know how much these officials actually earn during the tournament.
According to a report by India Today, on field umpires in IPL 2025 are paid Rs 3 lakh per match, while fourth umpires receive Rs 2 lakh per game. In comparison, each player, including the impact player, earns Rs 7.5 lakh per match in addition to their main contract with the franchise.
MI vs SRH, IPL 2025: A Moment That Sparked Confusion and Debate
Meanwhile, India’s Ishan Kishan was involved in a strange moment during the IPL 2025 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. Just after starting his innings, he tried to glance a ball from Deepak Chahar that was going down the leg side.
MI wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton caught it, but no one appealed, and the umpire was about to call it a wide. Surprisingly, Kishan walked off on his own, thinking he had edged it. The umpire, caught off guard, gave him out.
MI skipper Hardik Pandya patted Kishan in support, but replays showed there was no edge or UltraEdge spike, leaving fans and experts puzzled.
“You think you have seen it all after all these years and yet I must admit the Ishan Kishan’s dismissal leaves me perplexed,” wrote commentator Harsha Bhogle on X, reacting to the odd incident.
