IPL 2025 Resumes: Latest Team Changes And Updates

IPL 2025 is back on May 17! Get the latest updates on team changes, including new players for Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, LSG, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals.

After a short break, the IPL 2025 is ready to begin again on May 17. The league was paused for a week due to rising tensions, but now fans can look forward to the final 13 matches, with the grand finale set for June 3.

This season has already been full of surprises. Five-time winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and last year’s finalists Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have both been knocked out early. As the action returns, many teams are bringing in short-term replacements due to player injuries or national team duties.

Here’s a full list of all the latest updates from each franchise of IPL 2025, plus some fresh insight into what these changes could mean for the teams going forward.

Punjab Kings (PBKS)

  • Kyle Jamieson comes in for Lockie Ferguson, who is out with a hamstring injury.
  • Mitchell Owen replaces Glenn Maxwell, who hurt his finger.

Jamieson’s height and bounce can help Punjab in the death overs. Owen adds fresh energy to the middle order, and his arrival could bring some balance to the team.

Gujarat Titans (GT)

  • Kusal Mendis joins in place of Jos Buttler, who has left to get ready for England’s white-ball matches against the West Indies.

Mendis can be a solid top-order option. Though GT will miss Buttler’s explosive starts, Mendis brings consistency and calm under pressure.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

  • William O’Rourke replaces Mayank Yadav, who is sidelined with a back injury.

O’Rourke brings pace and swing. He may not have Yadav’s raw speed, but he can be useful in powerplays and with the new ball.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

  • Jonny Bairstow replaces Will Jacks, who has gone back to join England’s squad.
  • Richard Gleeson comes in for Ryan Rickelton, who is also away for national duties.

Bairstow’s return is big news. He adds power and experience at the top. Gleeson is a reliable pacer who could provide depth during crucial overs.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

  • Mustafizur Rahman steps in for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has left for personal reasons.

Mustafizur is known for his clever bowling in the death overs. His slower balls and cutters can turn games, especially on slower Indian tracks.
