Before the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season begins, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have shared their plans for their newest player, Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

The 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history as the youngest player ever to get an IPL contract when Rajasthan Royals signed him for an impressive Rs 1.10 crore at last year’s auction in Jeddah.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi had an impressive 2024 season, excelling in both domestic and international cricket. Playing for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 71 off 42 balls, becoming the youngest Indian to score a List A fifty.

On the international front, Vaibhav Suryavanshi set a record for the fastest youth Test century by an Indian, hitting a 58-ball ton against Australia in Chennai. He also played a key role in India’s run to the ACC U19 Asia Cup final, scoring two important half-centuries.

RR batting coach Vikram Rathour praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi, saying that with hard work, he will reach the top. However, he mentioned that the teen’s IPL debut will take time and will depend on the team’s strategy.

Vikram Rathour’s Thoughts on Working with Rahul Dravid Again

It has to be noted that the batting coach Vikram Rathour joined RR’s coaching staff in September 2024, soon after the franchise brought Rahul Dravid back as head coach. This reunion revived a successful partnership that helped India reach the top of the rankings in all three formats and led the country to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title last year.

Speaking about working with Rahul Dravid once again, Vikram said:

There won’t be much difference. We have worked together before, he is a brilliant coach. I really enjoyed my tenure with him. When we were in the Indian team we were fortunate enough to win the World Cup. Otherwise, there’s not much difference, the IPL is a shorter tournament and Indian cricket is year-long.”

The good thing is that you get to work with the same bunch of players, we might have the same players for up to three years. In the Indian team you have different batters across formats. As far as coaching is concerned it’s about helping the team, supporting the batters, guiding them somehow and getting the best performance out of them,”

Rajasthan Royals-led by Sanju Samson will be starting their campaign in the IPL 2025 with a thrilling match against SunRisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
