IPL 2025: The mega auction for the 18th season of IPL started in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia on 24 November. The first day’s auction ended today. All the 10 teams involved in the auction were seen spending money like water to buy players included in 12 categories.

At the same time, India cricket team’s star wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has made history in the auction. He has become the costliest player ever to be sold in the history of this tournament. Pant has been added to Lucknow Super Giants in a record bid of Rs 27 crore. Delhi Capitals had the chance to use the Right to Match card but let Pant go.

Apart from this, Punjab Kings added experienced Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer by paying a huge amount of Rs 26.75 crore. He became the most expensive player to be bought in the IPL auction for Punjab. Former Australian opener David Warner did not find any buyer on the first day of the auction.

Besides this, Devdutt Padikkal, who was also part of the Indian team in the BGT series, remained unsold on the first day of the auction. Meanwhile, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders added all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer after shelling a whopping sum of 23.75 crores, which was the most talked about on the first day of the auction.

Apart from this, Punjab added Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal by paying Rs 18 crores each. Apart from this, England captain Jos Buttler was bought by Gujarat Titans for Rs 15.75 crores. The biggest steel deal before the auction was experienced when wicketkeeper KL Rahul was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crores. Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 11.25 crores.

Simultaneously, prominent names such as England’s explosive wicketkeeper batsman Jonny Bairstow, the Under-19 winning captain of India Yash Dhul, and experienced spinner Piyush Chawla did not receive any buyer on the first day of auction.
