Virat Kohli, one of the best batters to ever play the game of cricket, has shared the dressing room with some of the world’s best cricketers over the course of his regional and international career. Some prominent players who have played in the shorter format (T20) and IPL include MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and others.
When asked to name the GOAT of the IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore player Virat Kohli conceded that it was a difficult decision.
Kohli did not choose a single player as his IPL GOAT. He mentioned Lasith Malin and AB de Villiers, two players who probably astonished the world with their performances practically every year they participated in the IPL. Kohli played with De Villiers for several years when the South African joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore and has a special relationship with Mr. 360 (as he is affectionately known by his fans).
On the other hand, Lasith Malinga is without a doubt the greatest Sri Lankan bowler to ever play the game. Malinga single-handedly won several games for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
AB de Villiers IPL career
When De Villiers played, the legendary right-handed batter was among the game’s top finishers. In the IPL, he struck out at a rate of over 150 and amassed 5162 runs at an average of 39.71.
Lasith Malinga’s IPL career
Malinga, who is now the bowling coach of the Mumbai Indians, amassed 170 wickets at an economy rate of 7.14 in 122 IPL games.
The IPL’s all-time leading scorer, Virat Kohli, has amassed 6411 runs in 208 games, making him the best run scorer ever. Since the first IPL season, Kohli has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
