IPL 2023: Sandeep Sharma Sends heartfelt message for MS Dhoni after CSK vs RR match

Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowler Sandeep Sharma shared a unique message for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni.

After an exciting Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, April 12, Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowler Sandeep Sharma shared a unique message for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni. Sharma complimented MSD on reaching 200 IPL matches as CSK captain, saying it was an honour to bowl to him.

In yet another game that came down to the final ball, Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings by three runs. CSK needed 21 runs off Sharma’s last over to reach 176. Dhoni clobbered the bowler for two sixes after he started with a couple of wides. The bowler, on the other hand, kept his nerve and did not give up another boundary as RR won by a narrow margin.

Following his victory, Sharma resorted to social media to express his feelings. On his Twitter account, he praised Dhoni and wrote:

After losing the toss, the Rajasthan Royals batted first and scored 175/8. Jos Buttler led the way with 52 off 36 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal (38 off 26), Ravichandran Ashwin (30 off 22), and Shimron Hetmyer (30* off 18) chipped in.

CSK were restricted to 172/6 in reply as spinners Ashwin (2/25) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/27) smothered the opposing batting. Devon Conway of Chennai scored 50 off 38 balls, while Ajinkya Rahane added 31 off 19.

After that, CSK lost their stride and fell short in the chase, despite battling cameos from Ravindra Jadeja (25* off 15) and MS Dhoni (32* off 17).

Surprisingly, Sharma went unsold in the IPL 2023 player auction and was recruited as a substitute for Prasidh Krishna by RR at his basic price of 50 lakh.
