IPL 2023 got off to a fast start. Every team that played at least one game had a match winner.

With five games finished, every team in the IPL 2023 has played in one game. Several players have made a lot of money playing in the Indian Premier League over the years. Here’s how the most expensive players fared in their first IPL 2023 games.

Sam Curran

Sam Curran became the IPL’s most expensive player. At the IPL 2023 auction, Punjab Kings paid INR 18.5 crores for the English all-rounder. Sam Curran struggled against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Curran scored an undefeated 26 runs off 17 balls in the first innings, including two sixes. The KKR hitters took the all-rounder to the cleaners with the ball in hand. Curran bowled three overs, allowing 33 runs and taking one wicket. Curran’s lone wicket came from the strong hitting hitter Andre Russell, who was looking in terrific form and had already scored 35 runs off 19 balls.

Cameron Green

Cameron Green was selected by the Mumbai Indians for 17.5 crores to make his debut in the IPL 2023. Green, like the Mumbai Indians, had a forgettable day at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Green batted third against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Australian all-tenure rounder’s at the crease was cut short when Reece Topley bowled him after scoring five runs off four balls. Green looked all over the place with the ball in his hand as he bowled two overs for 30 runs. Faf duPlessis took control against him in his opening over, hitting two boundaries and a six. He bowled the last over, in his second over of the night, he picked up Dinesh Karthik’s wicket, but Maxwell entered and smashed two consecutive sixes off his last two balls.

Ben Stokes

The captain of England’s test squad was chosen by the competition’s second most successful team. Ben Stokes was signed by Chennai Super Kings for INR 16.25 crores. In the early stages of the IPL 2023, the English all-rounder will only be accessible as a specialised batter.

Stokes was unable to create a mark with the bat in his hand. Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s and Gujarat Titans’ main spin bowler, dismissed him for seven runs off six balls.

Nicholas Pooran

At the IPL 2023 auctions, Nicholas Pooran was unexpectedly costly. Pooran’s selection by Lucknow SuperGiants for INR 16 crores came as a surprise given his dismal performance in prior seasons.

Pooran was likely the only player on this list to have a solid effort with his club against a very mediocre Delhi Capitals lineup. He got 36 runs in 21 balls before being bowled by Khaleel Ahmed.

Harry Brook

With his strong hitting abilities, the English middle order hitter has stunned everyone. It came as no surprise when SunRisers Hyderabad paid INR 13.25 crores for Harry Brook.

Brook was removed after only 13 runs off 21 balls by previous season’s purple cap champion Yuzvendra Chahal.
