
The first week of the IPL 2023 has come and gone. In just a week, a lot has happened in this league. The performance of the young players, though, has piqued everyone’s interest. Young players have lit up the first week of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League. Some have made their imprint with the ball, while others have made their mark with the bat. And, based on this, the future of Indian cricket appears brighter.
Sai Sudarshan, Suyash Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh, Dhruv Jurail, and Yashasvi Jaiswal are among the five names on the list of young Indian cricketers who have excelled in the IPL 2023 so far. Some of these five have only played one match, while others have only played two. Yet, whatever role they performed, they have proven their worth. Let us now examine each of their performances individually.
Sai Sudarshan
Gujarat Giants did not include this 21-year-old rookie batsman in their first-match lineup. But, owing to Kane Williamson’s injury, Sai Sudarshan was given an opportunity as an impact player, and he shown his talent. After hitting 22 runs in the first match, he was named to the playing Eleven against Delhi and dominated. In the team’s triumph, he pitched an unblemished inning of 62 runs.
Suyash Sharma
Suyash Sharma, 19, plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders. And he made his debut in the IPL 2023. He dominated his debut encounter against the RCB. In four overs, he grabbed three wickets for 30 runs. This is the second-best debut performance by a spinner in the IPL.
Prabhsimran Singh
Prabhsimran Singh, a 22-year-old right-handed batsman, has played two matches for Punjab Kings this season and scored 83 runs. He hit a scorching 60 against Rajasthan Royals in the second match after scoring 23 runs in the first. Together with this, he lay the groundwork for the team’s win by collaborating with skipper Shikhar Dhawan.
Dhruv Jurel
Dhruv Jurel, 22, plays for the Rajasthan Royals. He has only played one match thus far, the most recent one in Guwahati. Although though Rajasthan lost against the Punjab Kings, Dhruv’s undefeated 32-run innings nearly took down Punjab Kings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal, 21, has also hit a half-century with his bat in two IPL 2023 matches. In Rajasthan’s opening match of the season, he batted brilliantly for 54 runs, laying the groundwork for a victory over the Sunrisers.
