India’s Birthday Hero Virat Kohli Is A King Of Comebacks

The superstar has battled form issues to bounce back at his belligerent best. But how?

Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli celebrates his 34th birthday on November 5. Nicknamed King Kohli, the Indian superstar is one of the best in the business. Many fans believe Kohli may overtake Sachin Tendulkar to become the second Indian to register a century of centuries across formats. Recently, the legendary batter overcame his batting struggles in dramatic fashion.

Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the ICC T20 World Cup so far. Australia is one of the happy hunting grounds for the master batter. VK developed his game to suit the conditions of the Aussie grounds. He mastered the running game and snatched singles whenever they were there. Kohli paced the innings nicely and set the tone for the Indian total. He stayed near the 20th over in three of the four matches in this edition of the WC. A batting mainstay, Virat explained it is his new team role, and he is following it.

How did Virat Kohli overcome form barriers?

Three pillars of strength, his wife Anushka Sharma, self-discipline, and detachment, have supported the legend to bounce back to his usual best. A proud husband, Kohli, has often credited his partner for cheering him up during troubled times.

The hardworking cricketer thrives on motivation as a push factor. He practiced for many hours and fine-tuned his flaws. The former captain also took a break from cricket for a month.

This mental break supported him to recuperate and reassess his game. Kohli, in an interview, noted it was the first time in his life that he did not even touch the bat for a month. A disciplined prodigy, VK kept working and improving with a belief that the best will come to him, gradually. And it came to him, during the Asia Cup where he signed off with a 61-ball 122 against Afghanistan. The rest is history.

What is Kohli’s next assignment?

A modern master, Virat has two goals in front of him within a year. The first is to win the T20 World Cup for Team India. The second is to clinch the ODI World Cup, slated to be held in his home country next year.

VK would be 38 in the next edition of the ICC 50 over World Cup. It is not sure whether he would extend his game to four years. But fans believe King Kohli can achieve it if he continues his disciplined and dedicated approach.
