Incident 3: Effigies were burnt, Houses of Indian cricketers stoned:
Even after reaching the final of the 2003 World Cup, India’s starting tournaments weren’t that great. Angry fans took the posters of numerous Indian cricketers on the streets and burned them because India slumped to a nine-wicket defeat against Australia sparking widespread outrage at home. Even these cricketers’ residences were also stoned by their supporters for poor performance.
Incident 4: Effigies were burnt of some famous cricket personalities after India lost to Bangladesh in the 2007 World Cup:
India’s lowest points were in the 2007 World Cup which was in the Caribbean, when a star-studded team crashed out in the first round itself. When India lost to Bangladesh, at that time it suffered a huge upset from their fans. Indian cricketers’ effigies were set ablaze at the National stage and their homes were also stoned by their angry fans. Even Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s under construction house was also vandalized and a few pillars and several walls of the property were damaged.
Incident 5: Jasprit Bumrah was badly trolled after No Ball in 2017 champions trophy:
Jasprit Bumrah is known as India’s fastest bowler. But he was badly trolled for bowling a “No Ball” in ICC champions final trophy in 2017. Pakistan won the trophy against India as Bumrah picked up the wicket of Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman and overstepped, resulting in “No Ball” in the match. Bumrah was trolled on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook as his supporters created funny memes and jokes on him.
