The high-voltage India U-19 vs Pakistan U-19 clash in the Under-19 Asia Cup ended in complete dominance by the Indian team, who secured a 90-run victory in their Group A encounter held in Dubai on Sunday. Alongside the on-field success, India continued with no handshakes with Pakistan, reinforcing a stance previously seen during the senior Asia Cup.
Strong Batting Display Powers India to 240
Asked to bat first, India put up a fighting 240 all out in 46.1 overs. Aaron George anchored the innings with a fluent 85 runs, showcasing composure and shot selection.
Captain Ayush Mhatre gave India a flying start as he smashed 38 off just 25 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. All-rounder Kanishk Chouhan gave just the needed late push with 46 runs, striking three sixes to push India past the 230 mark. India, despite the regular wickets, had managed a healthy scoring rate courtesy the partnerships and timely contributions.
Pakistan Bowlers Fight Back
Mohammed Sayyam with 3/67 and Abdul Subhan with 3/42 were the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan U-19 while Niqab Shafiq chipped in with two wickets as India didn’t manage an even bigger total.
India’s Bowlers Dismantle Pakistan Chase
Chasing 241, Pakistan never found stability. Their innings folded early, slipping to 30 for 4 as a fiery opening spell from Deepesh Devendran fetched him three upfront strikes. Huzaifa Ahsan top-scored for Pakistan with a fighting 70 off 83 balls, while skipper Farhan Yousaf chipped in with 23. However, that lack of support from the other end proved costly.
With 3 wickets for 33 runs, Kanishk Chouhan’s off-spin shattered Pakistan’s middle order. Meanwhile, Devendran was outstanding, taking 3 wickets and conceding only 16 runs, keeping India well and truly in charge throughout the chase.
India U-19 vs Pakistan U-19: No-Handshake Policy to Continue
In addition to the excitement of cricket, the attention was also placed on off-field procedure of the game that was between India U-19 and Pakistan U-19. Players from both the teams did not shake hands at the toss as well as at the end of the match so they continued with the ‘no handshake’ principle that had been established by the Indian team.
This comes in response to the stand taken by the Indian men’s team at the Asia Cup 2025, where they too refused to receive the winners’ trophy from the PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
