In the third game of (Super 4) qualification stage of the Asia Cup 2022, Sri Lankan team defeated India by 6 wickets in another cracker of the game in the tournament. For the Indian side the chances of getting qualified in the finals of Asia Cup 2022 are almost finished here, if any magical and extraordinary stuff won’t happen in the context of points table.
During the toss, the Sri Lankan captain conquered the coin and elected to bowl first for his team as the initial assistant from the pitch of Sharjah cricket ground was the intend to improvise, but due to fantastic knock of Rohit Sharma 72(41), India successful stamped a very competitive total of 173/8 (20-overs).
But later as the Sri Lankan side walked out to bat in second innings Pathum Nissanka 52(37) along with Kusal Mendis 57(37), rocked back and pushed India completely on the backfoot in the first 12-overs of the game. But later the majestic spell of Yuzvendra Chahal 3/34 (4.0) totally supported by the off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s 1/32 (4.0), brought back the Indian side unexpectedly in the match.
But the captain Dasun Shanaka decided to lead his team from the front along with star finisher Bhanuka Rajapaksa. The skipper played match winning cameo of 33*(18), that was the sole reason behind victory for Srilanka by 6 wickets. But apart from it Arshdeep Singh bowled breathtaking over by utilising all his flamboyant skills and still denied the victory to the opposition till the last ball of the innings. The expensive over of Bhubaneswar Kumar where more than 15 runs considered could be considered as the most crucial turning point in the context of the game.
