The Indian women’s cricket team led by Harmanpreet Kaur, on Saturday, reached the finals of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 as they defeated the Bangladesh women’s cricket team by 10 wickets in the first semi-final match at Dambulla.
Notably, this was the third 10-wicket win at the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2024 in the last five games.
Indian Women Thrashed Bangladesh Women By 10 Wickets
Chasing a mere total of 81 runs, Indian openers Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana formed a brilliant partnership as they didn’t let the Bangladesh bowlers overpower them throughout their innings. Indian cricket team managed to chase down the total in just 11 overs as they scored 83 runs, without losing any wickets in the process.
While Shefali scored 26 runs off 28 balls, on the other hand, the Queen of Cricket Smriti Mandhana smashed an unbeaten half-century, scoring 55 runs off 39 balls, hitting nine fours and one six.
Earlier in the game, Nigar Sultana won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the Bangladesh cricket team failed miserably, struggling to score runs. They kept on losing the wickets. Nigar Sultana was the top scorer for the Bangladesh side as she scored 32 runs off 51. Apart from her, no other batter could surpass the 20-run margin.
For the Women in Blue, Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav picked up three wickets each, while Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma also clinched one wicket each. Renuka Thakur Singh was announced as the player of the match.
Talking about the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 Final match, the showdown is scheduled to take place on July 28th at Dambulla, where the Indian cricket team will take on the winner of the second semi-final, which is to be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Saturday.
