IND vs ZIM: The ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 has kept cricket lovers around the world hooked, with its thrilling and entertaining games. However, the BCCI has been preparing in the background for the upcoming India tour to Zimbabwe for the 5-match t20i series.
The 5-match T20i series between India and Zimbabwe is scheduled to kickstart on July 6th.
Youngsters Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Reddy were rewarded with a call-up to represent the Indian side in Zimbabwe. On the other hand, senior players who are currently participating in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and others, have been given rest for the upcoming tour.
In the absence of Rohit, Hardik, and Suryakumar Yadav, the BCCI has appointed Shubman Gill as India’s captain for the IND vs ZIM series.

Meanwhile, the squad consists of 7 young stars, who impressed the Indian team management with their performances in the Indian Premier League and they were rewarded with the call-up.

1. Riyan Parag:
The young versatile all-rounder, Riyan Parag excelled both with the bat and ball. He was promoted to number four by the Rajasthan Royals’ team management after years of underperformance in the lower order.
Riyan Parag repaid the faith of the team and emerged as a completely different player for the Royals. He impressed one and all with his batting prowess in IPL 2024.
He amassed 573 runs in 16 matches at an average of 52.09 and a strike rate exceeding 149, including four half-centuries. His highest score in IPL 2024 was 84* runs. Riyan played an instrumental role in Rajasthan Royals’ success in IPL 2024.
He is the first player from Assam to be picked for the senior Indian team.
2. Nitish Reddy:
Nitish Reddy is being looked at as the potential fast-bowling all-rounder that the Indian cricket team was looking for. Nitish scored 303 runs in 13 matches and picked three wickets in IPL for SunRisers Hyderabad.
Reddy was able to bowl over 130kph while maintaining his composure in pressurizing situations while coming to bat in the middle-order.
3. Abhishek Sharma:
Abhishek Sharma emerged as the 10th-highest run-getter in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League. He amassed 484 runs in 16 matches at an average of 32.26 and an impressive strike rate of 204.31. His highest score in the tournament was 75*. He smashed a total of 42 sixes throughout the season.
Abhishek’s aggressive performances were instrumental in SunRisers Hyderabad’s journey to the final.
4. Tushar Deshpande:
Tushar Deshpande has been rewarded for his consistent performances with the ball. He has been consistently contributing with his wicket-taking abilities for both Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024 and Mumbai in domestic cricket.
