IND vs PM 11: The Indian team got everything from the practice match before the second Test that they were expecting in terms of preparation for the Pink Ball Test match to be played in Adelaide. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul opened the innings and Rahul in particular looked in good rhythm.
The best performance from the Prime Minister’s XI was given by Sam Constas who played an innings of 107 runs.
Rohit Sharma failed to score in IND vs PM 11, and Shubman Gill scored a half-century
Indian captain Rohit Sharma came to bat at number four but he could not do anything special while Sarfaraz Khan took over the responsibility of keeping. Rohit started the innings by leaving the ball, his batting against the short ball was also worth watching. But while trying to drive the ball outside the off stump, he was caught in the slip. In the last 10 Test innings, Rohit has scored more than 25 only once.
Shubman Gill, who was playing after injury, scored a half-century and looked in good rhythm. He was also seen struggling in between. Especially he went for a drive on the ball going away from the body. Gill retired after scoring a half-century on 62 balls.
After the game was canceled due to rain on the first day, rain also played havoc on the second day but the game of 50-50 overs became 46 overs. India had decided to bowl after winning the toss. Jaiswal was seen struggling in the beginning and 12 of his first 14 runs came on the outside edge.
Rahul did not try to play extra like Jaiswal but on the third over, he was beaten on the leading edge by the ball of Scott Boland. Rahul, however, remained able to read the line of the ball most of the time.
Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Pant were absent from practice. In bowling, Harshit Rana impressed once more as he took four wickets. Mohammad Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Washington, and Ravindra Jadeja also picked up a few wickets. And whereas R Ashwin too was absent from the opening game, he did not bowl during this session either.
