IND vs NZ 3rd ODI: Rohit Sharma Slams 30th ODI Century, First In Three Years

Rohit Sharma hit a superb century to put India in command of the third One-Day International against New Zealand.

On Tuesday, Rohit Sharma got his first ODI century in more than three years during India’s third match against New Zealand in Indore. The Indian cricket team captain looked in great form as he smashed 9 fours and 6 sixes to reach the milestone in only nine deliveries. Rohit completed his half-century in 41 deliveries, while the next 50 runs followed in 42 balls. The last time Rohit scored a century in an ODI was in January 2020, against Australia in Bangalore.

Rohit stitched up a brilliant 212-run opening wicket partnership with Shubman Gill, but the India captain was removed by Michael Bracewell nearly soon after getting the century.

Earlier, Tom Latham, the captain of New Zealand, won the toss and chose to bat against India.

The Kiwis made one change, with bowler Jacob Duffy replacing Henry Shipley, who made his series debut in the first ODI. India made two changes, with skipper Rohit Sharma trying to give the players who missed the previous two games vital playing time.

“We would have batted first, as a team we want to get out and play well. It is a great ground to play in, every time we come here it has been a good score. What is important is to give a chance to some of the new guys who haven’t had a game and see how they go. We have got two changes – Shami and Siraj are out, Umran and Chahal are in,” said Rohit Sharma during the toss.
