IND vs ENG: India completed a stunning 3-0 whitewash against England in the three-match ODI series, securing a massive victory by 142 runs in the third and final ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shubman Gill’s brilliant century was the highlight of India’s dominating performance, while the collective efforts of the bowlers and key contributions from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer helped seal a victory.
Gill Continues his form in the 3rd IND vs ENG ODI

In the match, Shubman Gill was the star, compiling 112 off 104 balls. This was his seventh ODI century, and it formed the backbone for India’s score. His innings consisted of 14 boundaries and 3 huge hits, as he put the opposition in deep trouble when the day was done and India hull it to a very hefty total.
Gill formed a valiant alliance with both Kohli and Iyer. With the pressure taken off, there would be such that India would bat for the rest of the innings for a little more luck instead of crumbling into desperation. Gill complemented the upper middle-order contribution to set what one would have thought would be an ardently challenging target for England.
Early setbacks for India, but Kohli and Iyer shine

With captain Rohit Sharma following the Cuttack game at 1 run off Mark Wood in the second over, it is now up to the middle-order to repel off further hiccups. Virat Kohli was mopping the floor cautiously, while some exquisite shots came out of him to eventually unleash his rhythm as he reached a half-century off 50 balls. Unfortunately, he fell to Adil Rashid soon after and yet did not cross the milestone, as in Cuttack, falling prey rather stylishly.
Adil Rashid dismissed the hero of the first match, Shreyas Iyer, doing some proficient work in his third-wicket partnership with Gill, scoring 104 runs. Iyer, who came in at No. 4 and playing aggressively, contributed 78 runs in 64 balls. After Gill had put up a hundred, the wickets of India started falling with alarming regularity as Iyer too fell 22 short of his century. A collapsing Indian batting order, which looked good, just now stared at contingencies.
Important Knock by KL Rahul

In this context, KL Rahul was promoted to number five, in sharp contrast to the previous two ODI matches. Rahul, who was misfiring in those matches, helped bring it back to some degree with yet another measuring performance, coming just shy of half-a-century, scoring 40 runs off 29 balls. Although Indian batsmen kept falling regularly, Rahul ensured India arrived at a very competitive total. This strong performance set the team up at a score of 356.
On the other hand, Adil Rashid, the Englishman with the most wickets so far in this match, was able to take four wickets; his efforts, however, could do nothing to avert the challenge from India with a massive total of 356 runs against the final ball.
England fell behind

England started brightly in the chase as Ben Duckett and Phil Salt scorched their way to 60 inside the first 6.2 overs. But Arshdeep Singh, playing his first match of the series, took two quick wickets, packing off both Duckett and Salt. Duckett ended bowled by Arshdeep’s slow ball, and Salt, who misread a slow bouncer, found the Indian fielders in position to take easy catches.
Tom Banton and Joe Root were trying to rebuild the innings, but the Indian bowlers kept taking wickets. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Banton, while Akshar Patel dismissed Root. With England’s middle order weak, Indian bowlers created no chances for any recoveries.
Key Contributions of Harshit Rana

Harshit Rana had already been expensive in his earlier spells, but the man made an impactful recovery by nailing both of England’s Gutters, namely Jos Buttler and Harry Brook.
The wickets crushed England with hopes to chase down the target, and, in no time, they fell apart. Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar claimed the last remaining wickets; Sundar went on to finish the game, bowling Liam Livingstone and England was bundled out for a modest 214 in just 35 overs.
India was never at a loss for men to deliver, either to apply pressure or provide that final push; each Indian bowler played his role extremely well indeed: Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Akshar Patel, Hardik Pandya, and Rana were the ones doing the lion’s share of the damage.
India managed to claim some contestable wickets: Sundar and Kuldeep each took one, the others salvaged two each, and because of that, the England side never stood a chance of making a successful chase.
This was India’s last ODI before the Champions Trophy, which saw a perfect level of player completeness and strength. Except for Rishabh Pant, who sat out the series, every player contributed to the convincing victory that India cherished.
But the big question remains–how will the fast bowling unit deal with Jasprit Bumrah’s absence in the Champions Trophy? This series has created the right environment for the tournament, and India will be hoping to carry forward this momentum.
A Clean Sweep and a Definitive Statement

The third ODI’s 142-run triumph marked a fitting end to a dominant series effort, with India achieving a whitewash victory over England, 3-0. With both bat and ball, India put up an all-round effort that sent a resounding message to the upcoming Champions Trophy. With Gill, Iyer, and Kohli on form, and Polanders demonstrating their combined strength, India will head into the prestigious tournament with confidence.
