IND vs BAN: The Bangladesh Women vs India Women, Women’s World Cup 2025 clash at Navi Mumbai ended in yet another frustrating washout, as persistent rain forced India and Bangladesh to split points on Sunday, October 26.
Another setback for India’s opener accompanied the rain-tarnished finish to the league stage. Pratika Rawal got injured in the knee and ankle while fielding in Bangladesh Women vs India Women, leaving her questionably available for the semi-final against Australia.
India Rest Key Players Ahead of Knockout Stage in IND vs BAN
Looking forward to the semifinals, Team India decided to give some of their regulars a break. Richa Ghosh rested after sustaining a finger injury in the last game against New Zealand, while Kranti Gaud and Sneh Rana also got a break. The choice gave a chance to new faces, but India’s strong beginning indicated they were still dominating even with the changes.
Early Breakthrough and Slow Bangladesh Start
Choosing to bowl first, Renuka Singh hit gold for India in the very first over, setting the tone early. Bangladesh struggled to find their rhythm, taking 30 balls to get their first boundary. Just as they were looking to stabilize, India again struck to keep control of proceedings. The batting order could not convert the starts as India’s spinners, lead by Radha Yadav, kept applying relentless pressure.
Rain Disrupts Play, Shortens Match to 27 Overs A Side
Rain first showed its face during the middle of the innings when it caused a two-hour delay. Once play was restarted, the match became a 27-overs-a-side affair.
The only bright spot for Bangladesh was Sobhana Mostary, who displayed intent before being removed by a well-disciplined Indian bowling attack.
Radha Yadav topped with the bowling figures of 3 for 30, while Bangladesh could score just 119/9, giving India a modest total to chase of 126 runs.
Smriti Mandhana’s Performance Before Rain Returns
India chased the adjusted total well even in the absence of Pratika Rawal, who was out injured. Amanjot Kaur and Smriti Mandhana opened, and they gave a hurried start, reaching 51/0 in only seven overs.
Mandhana, however, seemed unstoppable hitting four successive boundaries in an over to take control. But just when India appeared ready for a convincing victory, the weather struck again. Heavy rain descended once again with India at 57/0 from 8.4 overs, prompting officials to abandon the game, leading to a no result.
Pratika Rawal’s Injury Casts Doubt Over India’s Semi-Final Plans
The concern for India is still the injury to Pratika Rawal, who twisted her knee and ankle while fielding earlier in the day. The BCCI Medical Team stated she is being closely monitored ahead of Thursday’s semi-final against Australia in Navi Mumbai. Rawal’s absence would be a big blow she has been India’s second-highest run-scorer in the tournament, behind Smriti Mandhana.
| Team | Score | Key Performers |
