The IND team announcement for the Tri-Series has taken thrilling turns and new developments. Released on April 8, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed a new ODI team for the tri-nation series against Sri Lanka and South Africa, scheduled to be played in Colombo from April 27 to May 11.
Harmanpreet Kaur, who led Mumbai Indians to a second WPL title in February, is the skipper. Welcoming fresh faces is the inclusion of three uncapped players – Kashvee Gautam, Sree Charani, and Shuchi Upadhyay – given their first-ever India call-up.
Key Absences Due to Injury
The IND squad release for the Tri-Series also brings out a couple of key injury issues. Renuka Singh Thakur and Titas Sadhu two of India’s top pace bowlers, have not featured as they are still recovering from respective injuries. Without them, the space has been left for rookies to fill and mark their presence on the international scene.

No Comeback Yet for Shafali Verma
Shafali Verma, who was left out of the Indian team in all formats following a dismal T20 World Cup 2024, still hasn’t regained her spot. Regardless of a fine performance for Delhi Capitals in WPL 2025 and a regular domestic season, she is not yet considered for a recall.
Debutants Receive Call-Up Following Stellar WPL 2025
Kashvee Gautam
The 21-year-old right-arm pacer made an early impression on her WPL debut season for Gujarat Giants. With 11 wickets at an average of 18.18 and an economy rate of 6.45, Kashvee impressed the selectors and was selected in the national team.
Sree Charani
Playing for Delhi Capitals, Charani featured in just two WPL 2025 matches but claimed 4 wickets at a rate of 17.75. While her economy rate of 8.87 is something to work on, her talent was obviously not missed by the selectors.
