The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) officially commenced the 3rd Test National Cricket Championship for Deaf 2024 in a dazzling ceremony, inaugurated by Chief Guest Santosh Kumar Rai, District Magistrate South-East, Delhi.

The inaugural event witnessed a gathering of distinguished personalities from the cricket and corporate realms, demonstrating their support for the IDCA 3rd Test National Cricket Championship for Deaf 2024. Dev Dutt, a BCCI Certified Coach, also graced the occasion.

Addressing the attendees, former cricketer and Chief Guest Santosh Kumar Rai expressed his pride in being associated with the championship. He highlighted the significance of providing a platform for specially-abled individuals to showcase their cricketing talent, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. Rai encouraged everyone to contribute towards making a meaningful impact for these specially-abled individuals, fostering dreams and belief in their ability to achieve great heights.

Sumit Jain, President of IDCA, emphasized the tournament’s importance in promoting world-class cricket while nurturing diversity and inclusion. He appreciated the commitment of partners in supporting hearing-impaired cricketing talent, marking the event as the 3rd National Cricket Championship in 2024.

Roma Balwani, CEO of IDCA, expressed gratitude for the presence of dignitaries celebrating and motivating the hearing-impaired individuals participating in the tournament. Balwani acknowledged Prime Minister Shri Modiji’s significant efforts in championing disability sports and promoting the universal usage of sign language, contributing to awareness and breaking barriers for the hearing-impaired community.

Reena Jain Malhotra, Patron of IDCA, welcomed the chief guest and guest of honor at the ceremony. She celebrated the gathering of four different states coming together for the prestigious championship, expressing gratitude to support partners for their belief in the cause of hearing-impaired cricket. Malhotra expressed optimism about nurturing and expanding the championship in the future.

Dedicated to fostering sports talent among specially-abled youth, Serum Institute of India, part of the Cyrus Poonawalla Group, has collaborated with IDCA as the Principal Partner. In this role, the group will extend full support to IDCA for the hearing-impaired men’s tournament as they strive to clinch the coveted cup.
