Hosts Zimbabwe was one of the favorites to qualify for the 2018 One-Day International World Cup after defeating two-time defending champions West Indies in the group stage of the ongoing qualifiers.

However, they were hammered by Sri Lanka before suffering to a surprise loss to Scotland in the Super Sixes, therefore eliminating them from the qualification campaign.

Because Zimbabwe can no longer qualify due to their low net run-rate, the final berth in the ICC World Cup 2023 will now be decided by the Scotland vs Netherlands Super Sixes match. Learn about the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023 scenarios.

Scotland’s national cricket squad controls their own fate. Scotland only needs to win their Super Sixes match against the Netherlands on Thursday to qualify for the ICC World Cup 2023.

Even if they lose to the Netherlands, they can still advance to the prestigious ICC 50-over competition. Scotland must prevent the Netherlands from winning by 32 runs or chasing the needed score with less than six overs to spare.

If the match is called off due to rain, Scotland will still qualify for the ICC World Cup 2023.

How will the Netherlands qualify for the ICC World Cup 2023?

To finish with a superior net run-rate than the Scots and qualify for the ICC World Cup 2023, the Netherlands must beat Scotland by 31 runs or chase down the needed target with six overs to spare.

If the Dutch win by fewer than nine runs or fail to reach the required target after 48.3 overs, they will be eliminated from the qualification competition.
