The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed captivating computer-generated visuals of the upcoming Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, a 34,000-seat modular marvel set to be ready by the end of May. This state-of-the-art facility in Eisenhower Park, Nassau County, just 30 miles east of Manhattan, will play host to eight matches, including three clashes featuring India, in the eagerly anticipated 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Construction at the venue, a mere stone’s throw away from New York, commenced this week, with site fencing in place and outfield work already underway. The project boasts premium and general admission seating, VIP and hospitality suites, including a party deck and cabanas, promising an unforgettable experience for cricket enthusiasts.

The ICC has outlined a detailed timeline for the stadium’s completion, aiming to finish construction by May 6, including the installation of drop-in pitches. The testing and commissioning phase is set to conclude by May 13, with a Test event scheduled for May 27, leading up to the inaugural match between South Africa and Sri Lanka on June 3.

Geoff Allardice, ICC Chief Executive, expressed excitement about the milestone, stating, “We are partnering with world-class suppliers to deliver the modular stadium to ensure that players and fans can enjoy an unforgettable experience across the eight matches in New York in June this year.”

This groundbreaking project emphasizes sustainability, with grandstands from the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix being repurposed for the T20 World Cup venue. The modular stadium, primarily constructed of aluminum and steel, introduces a unique concept in cricket infrastructure, drawing inspiration from similar ideas used in Formula 1, Golf, and the Olympic Games.

The facility’s wicket, a drop-in square, is currently being curated in Florida and is scheduled for transportation to New York in early May. Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions, led by renowned curator Damian Hough, is overseeing pitch development, while the LandTek Group is responsible for the outfield, leveraging their expertise from working with sports giants like the New York Yankees and New York Mets.

The architectural brilliance behind Nassau County Stadium comes from Populous, a renowned sports and entertainment venue architecture firm, responsible for iconic venues like Yankee Stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium, and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Arena Event Services and The Parker Company, representing global expertise, are set to provide stadium infrastructure and manage the build, respectively, on behalf of T20 Inc.
