
The ICC Hall of Fame, officially inaugurated on January 2, 2009, in Dubai by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in association with the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA), honors the greatest of cricketers in cricket history. The hall of fame has more than 120 inductees so far, and this esteemed honor recognizes players who have left a lasting impression on international cricket.

Muttiah Muralitharan Inducted: 2016 | Career Span: 1992 – 2011
The greatest spinner of all time, according to many, Muttiah Muralitharan is the world record holder for the highest number of Test and ODI wickets. He took a record 800 Test wickets and 534 ODI wickets.
Ranked by Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack in 2002 as the best Test bowler, Muralitharan averaged more than six wickets per test match and was ranked No.1 in ICC Test bowling rankings for a record 1,711 days. He retired after obtaining his 800th wicket on the last ball of his final Test match in 2010.
Kumar Sangakkara Inducted: 2021 | Career Span: 2000 – 2015

Elegance personified and one of the most consistent batsmen of his generation, Kumar Sangakkara had a 15-year-long international career as a batsman and wicketkeeper. A winner of the T20 World Cup, a two-time ODI World Cup runner-up, and a regular at the top of the ICC Test batting tables, Sangakkara blended style with substance.
He did 678 dismissals as a wicket-keeper, of which a record 482 were in ODIs, and scored 38 Test centuries, of which 11 double centuries a record equalled by none else except Don Bradman.
He set the record for international runs in a calendar year (2014) and became the first to score four consecutive centuries in ODI cricket, achieving this in the 2015 World Cup.
Mahela Jayawardene Inducted: 2021 | Career Span: 1997 – 2015
A tactical mastermind and graceful batsman, Mahela Jayawardene represented Sri Lanka in 652 international games, accumulating more than 10,000 runs across Test and ODI cricket. Debuting in 1997, Jayawardene’s arrival made Sri Lanka a world power in cricket.
His ability to switch formats seamlessly and lead, not just as captain but also throughout his career, made him the fulcrum of Sri Lankan cricket for almost two decades.
Aravinda De Silva Inducted: 2023 | Career Period: 1984 – 2003
Sri Lanka’s one of the earliest cricket heroes, Aravinda De Silva, contributed significantly to Sri Lanka’s World Cup victory in 1996. His all-round effort in the final, in claiming three decisive wickets and scoring an unbeaten 107, is an eternal etching in cricket history. De Silva was the first player to reach a century and claim three wickets in one World Cup game, and the sole cricketer to do so in a World Cup final.
Throughout a diverse 19-year career, De Silva compiled major centuries against the best teams, one being a record national score of 267 vs. New Zealand in 1991. He retired after the 2003 Cricket World Cup, bringing to an end a successful career as one of Sri Lanka’s greatest cricketing icons.
