Most Misunderstood Cricketer – Virat Kohli
Despite his illustrious career and immense contribution to the world of sports, people often criticize Kohli’s personality, saying he is an arrogant guy, who doesn’t respect his opponents.
Well, it’s no secret that Virat wears his heart on his sleeve and doesn’t shy away from calling a spade a spade. He is known for his flamboyant nature on the field. However, his aggression is often misunderstood for his arrogance. Many feel that Kohli isn’t setting the right example for the upcoming generation with his aggressive celebrations and behavior on the field.
While he might look like an aggressive warrior on the field, he is completely a different person once the match is over. From advising the young players in the opposition to his friendly banters with the veterans, Kohli treats his opponents like his own teammates after the match.
Recently, one of the most popular and respected commentators – Harsha Bhogle shared the ‘other side’ of Virat Kohli, which makes him truly the KING.
In a video shared by Harsha Bhogle on his YouTube channel, Harsha shared an incident that highlighted the other side of Virat Kohli that fans don’t get to see on the cricket field. Bhogle shared an incident where Kohli reached out to a young girl, who was battling cancer. Bhogle revealed:
“There was a colleague of mine whose daughter was very unwell, had a form of cancer, and one of the journalists who’s close to Virat Kohli said, ‘can you record a little message for her?,’ which Virat gladly did.”
He added: “She’s a friend’s daughter so I would be in touch with her all the time. She said, ‘through my worst period that message was so important for me’”.
“And as a celebration for her recovery, they were in Australia for the T20 World Cup, so through a media colleague who knew Virat’s wife (Anushka) the message went across, asking her to meet me at this time at this place in the hotel and he spent half an hour with her. She would not hear a word against him. He was very warm and passionate, asking about the recovery and saying well done.”
Bhogle concluded the video by saying that young people who want to be like Virat Kohli should focus on the hard work and discipline that Kohli has put into becoming what he is today.
