In a high-scoring GT vs DC IPL 2025 game at Ahmedabad, Delhi Capitals (DC) were able to post a robust total of 203 despite Gujarat Titans’ (GT) fast bowler Prasidh Krishna taking an excellent four-wicket haul to keep the innings under control. GT still managed to chase down the mammoth total at home with 7 wickets in hand.
Jos Buttler’s match-winning knock
GT lost their skipper Shubhman Gill’s wicket early on with a run out in the 2nd over by Karun Nair while on strike, scoring 7 runs. From there, Sai Sudharsan’s 36, Rutherford’s 43, and Buttler’s 97 run anchored the victory following the six and a four by Rahul Tewatia at the end against Mitchell Starc, who recently defended 9 runs against the Rajasthan Royals.
Batting-Friendly Pitch Offers Relief in Ahmedabad
Following a couple of tough days for batsmen, the Ahmedabad pitch finally relaxed in the Saturday sunshine. The afternoon match between GT and DC witnessed several batsmen, such as Karun Nair and KL Rahul of DC’s top order, and some of their middle-order batsmen, getting off the blocks nicely. But the top individual score of the innings was Axar Patel’s 39 from 32 balls.
DC’s New Opening Pair Shows Promise
With Jake Fraser-McGurk absent, DC brought on a new opening combination of Abhisek Porel and Karun Nair. Porel made an early impression, striking crisp boundaries — one over mid-off and another behind square. His stay was brief, though, as he was removed by a full toss from Arshad Khan.
KL Rahul and Karun Nair Show Early Intent
KL Rahul kept the runs flowing with his free-wheeling game. He cut Mohammed Siraj crisply and followed it up with a straight drive, but was undone by a late-moving yorker from Prasidh Krishna, being caught for a swift 28 off merely 14 deliveries.
Karun Nair, also, was looking settled, scoring boundaries on both sides before he handed over his wicket by ramping a short ball directly to deep third.
Stubbs and Axar Build, but Don’t Capitalize
Stubbs and Axar Patel batted in unison and knit a useful 53-run partnership off 36 balls. Stubbs smashed a beautiful cover drive off Prasidh to take DC’s hundred past the ninth over. Both of the batsmen later decided against risking anything ambitious and took singles and twos, particularly from Rashid Khan and Ishant Sharma.
Rashid Khan’s Mixed Day on the Field
Rashid Khan bowled initially at a brisk rate, aiming at the stumps. He slowed down later and let Stubbs loft him for a six. But Stubbs miscued one soon after and escaped as Rashid couldn’t hang on to a tough running catch. Axar Patel made the most of the missed chance by slog-sweeping the following ball for six.
GT’s Death Bowling Strategy: Yorkers & Short Balls

GT’s demise over plan was on a combination of yorkers and short balls. Mohammed Siraj came back to catch Stubbs with an unorthodox reverse sweep that flew up to short third.
Prasidh Krishna’s lethal spell in the latter overs saw him catch Axar, who was finding boundaries difficult in his last balls, and then catch Vipraj Nigam on the very next ball, courtesy of a miraculous diving catch by Jos Buttler. That had Prasidh on a hat-trick.
Ashutosh Sharma Ignites Late Push for DC
Ashutosh Sharma gave the Delhi Capitals innings a late push with some attacking shots. He hit Arshad Khan for a four and a six early in the innings and then targeted Prasidh Krishna for two more sixes. But GT was able to keep DC under control in the final over, bowled by R Sai Kishore, who gave away just nine runs.
