The captain of New Zealand, Kane Williamson, claims that the wicket was highly different from what he anticipated and that it was an exciting game. Mentions that it was difficult at the beginning of the inning because the ball stopped in the pitch and came slowly onto the bat. Claims that Sri Lanka excelled at the top before Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell successfully formed a partnership. Glenn Phillips had a tremendous inning, and while any hundred is good, watching him work hard and get the team out of danger was terrific.

Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan captain, praises Glenn Phillips for his innings after stating they got off to a great start, particularly in the opening ten overs. He adds that they didn’t bowl well in the second half and praises Trent Boult and Tim Southee for their early-inning bowling performances. The author concludes that they still have a few games remaining and will try to recover.

Glenn Phillips scored 104 runs off 64 balls and was named the game’s MVP. He claims that their strategy with Daryl Mitchell was straightforward because they only wanted to establish a working relationship by being upbeat and putting up a respectable number.

New Zealand put up a clinical performance on the field and in possession of the ball, and with this victory, they remain unbeaten and extend their advantage at the top of Group 1’s points standings.
