Gautam Gambhir Appointed As Indian Cricket Team Head Coach

A new era has begun! Former Indian cricketer and World Cup hero Gautam Gambhir has been named as the next head coach of the Indian cricket team. Gautam Gambhir, who played an instrumental role in India’s win in the 2007 World T20 and the 2011 ODI World Cup, recently guided Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL title. Gautam Gambhir will be replacing recently came to an end after the T20 World Cup 2024.

The news of Gautam Gambhir taking on the position of India’s next head coach was confirmed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on social media on Wednesday.

Gautam Gambhir Appointed As Indian Cricket Team Head Coach

On Wednesday, Jay Shah took to his social media and announced Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team. He wrote:

It is with immense pleasure that I welcome Mr @GautamGambhir as the new Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Modern-day cricket has evolved rapidly, and Gautam has witnessed this changing landscape up close.”

He added: “Having endured the grind and excelled in various roles throughout his career, I am confident that Gautam is the ideal person to steer Indian Cricket forward. His clear vision for #TeamIndia, coupled with his vast experience, positions him perfectly to take on this exciting and most sought-after coaching role. The @BCCI fully supports him as he embarks on this new journey,”

Jay Shah Also Paid Tribute To Rahul Dravid

Earlier, Jay Shah also penned an emotional message for Rahul Dravid, who decided to hang his boots as the head coach of the Indian cricket team after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. He wrote:

I express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Mr Rahul Dravid whose highly successful tenure as the Head Coach draws to a close. Under his guidance, #TeamIndia emerged as a dominant force across formats, including being crowned ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champions!”

He added: “His strategic acumen, persistent efforts to nurture talent and exemplary leadership has instilled a culture of excellence within the team and that is also the legacy his leaves behind. The Indian dressing room today is one cohesive unit standing together through challenges while revelling in each other’s success.”

It has to be noted that the Indian cricket team became the first team ever to win the T20 World Cup title without losing even a single game. The Men in Blue played some extraordinary cricket, showing their brilliance in all the three departments of the game.
