On May 9, Imran Khan was detained in Pakistan. From April 2018 to April 2022, Khan was Pakistan’s prime minister. He was also a fantastic cricket player. He was given the national team captaincy in 1982 as well, and he captained Pakistan in the 1992 ODI World Cup. In the 1992 Cricket World Cup, Pakistan triumphed.
His arrest sparked nationwide protests and chaos in the public sphere. Imran Khan was detained by Pakistani Rangers while making a bail request on seven counts on May 9 before the Islamabad High Court. When the Pakistani rangers detained him and pulled him to the rangers’ van, he was mid-process through some biometric procedure. Due to the former Pakistani Prime Minister’s arrest, the public broke into the police headquarters. All private schools in Pakistan are reportedly shuttered, and Twitter is not accessible there either.
Along with the general public, former Pakistani cricket players were also angered by Imran’s detention. Shoaib Akhtar allegedly expressed shock and dubbed the former Pakistan captain a national hero after seeing footage of Imran’s imprisonment.
