Former Australia Test Captain Tim Paine Joins Adelaide Strikers as Assistant Coach for BBL 13

Former Australian Test captain and wicketkeeper Tim Paine has taken on the role of Assistant Coach for the Adelaide Strikers in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL 13). Paine, known for his extensive experience and leadership, is set to contribute his expertise to both the Strikers and Australia A.

Former Australian Test captain and accomplished wicketkeeper, Tim Paine, has taken up a significant role as an Assistant Coach for the Adelaide Strikers in preparation for the forthcoming Big Bash League (BBL 13).

Notably, Paine has also recently been appointed as an Assistant Coach for Australia A, a position he will hold for their upcoming series against New Zealand A commencing next week.

With his recent retirement from First-Class cricket, Paine stands as one of the most seasoned figures in Australian cricket, boasting an extensive professional record of over 400 games across an illustrious 18-year playing career.

The General Manager of Cricket at the Strikers, Tim Nielsen, expressed his enthusiasm about Paine’s inclusion in the team this season.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tim to our team, knowing that his presence will greatly benefit us in multiple ways throughout the season. As a gifted wicketkeeper and accomplished batter at Test level, Tim’s insights will prove invaluable to our players, both on the field and with the bat. His adeptness in providing effective and direct feedback is truly exceptional, and we are eagerly anticipating his contribution to the Strikers in Adelaide,” Nielsen remarked.

Paine, who led Australia in 23 out of his 35 Test matches, has previously featured in 44 matches for the Hobart Hurricanes. During his time with the Hurricanes, he amassed more than 1100 runs, accentuated by 140 boundaries, with a remarkable high-score of 91.

Head Coach of the Strikers, Jason Gillespie, shared his excitement about Paine’s addition to the coaching staff.

“It is truly wonderful news that Tim has chosen to be a part of the Strikers as an assistant coach. His diverse skill set and substantial experience make him an excellent candidate for coaching, and his decision aligns perfectly with our pursuit of success this season.
