1. Travis Head: 17 balls vs Scotland

Travis Head has made the fastest fifty for Australia in T20Is in just 17 balls. He played an innings of 80 off 25 balls against Scotland. The opener hammered 12 fours and 5 sixes in his blistering knock. He accelerated from 50 off 17 balls to 80 off 25, registering the highest strike rate in an innings for any batter who has faced 25 or more balls.

Australia chased down the target of 155 in just 58 balls, becoming the fastest team to do so in a 150-plus target in the T20 format.

2. Marcus Stoinis: 17 balls vs Sri Lanka

Marcus Stoinis in a match against Sri Lanka took 17 balls to reach a half-century in a T20I match in 2022. The allrounder played a monstrous innings, smashing an unbeaten 59 off 18 balls. 

Stoinis maintained a strike rate of 327.77 to made one of the fastest fifty for Australia in T20Is. His knock helped Australia chase down 158 runs, with seven wickets remaining in their opening group match of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Perth.

3. Glenn Maxwell: 18 balls vs Sri Lanka

Power hitter Glen Maxwell smashed 18-ball 50 against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2016, making one of the fastest fifty for Australia in T20Is. Opening the batting, Maxwell was at his brutal best at the powerplay, racing to a score of 66 off 29 balls.

Australia comfortably chased down the target of 129 to win the match.

4. Glenn Maxwell: 18 balls vs Pakistan

Glenn Maxwell features on the list once again, his second fastest fifty for Australia in T20Is. One of the most dangerous batters in the world, Maxwell struck a 50 off 18 balls during a T20 World Cup match against Pakistan in Mirpur, in 2014.

Maxwell went on to make 74 off 33 balls. In his innings, he smashed seven fours and six sixes. His effort, however, came on a losing note as Australia suffered a 20-run loss while chasing 192. All Aussie batters, except Maxwell and Aaron Finch, failed to reach double digits.

5. David Warner: 18 balls vs West Indies

Australia opener David Warner, renowned for his explosive batting, makes it to the list of fastest fifty for Australia in T20Is. He scored Australia’s fastest fifty in T20Is then, in 2010 at the SCG.

It was an upgrade from his earlier record of 19-ball fifty from the previous year against South Africa.

The Southpaw ended up with 67 off 29 balls as Australia comfortably chased down 139 in just 11.4 overs. His knock included five fours and seven sixes as he batted at a strike rate of 231.03.
