Faf du Plessis revealed his joy at assuming the vice-captain role at Delhi Capitals in a video posted by the franchise on their social media handles.
The 40-year-old South African cricket player, who has also captained RCB for three seasons of IPL, spoke in a good light about signing up with DC and indicated confidence in the team. Du Plessis remarked, “I am DC’s vice-captain and I am looking forward. Delhi has been terrific, and the lads have been great. Certainly, I am happy, and I am ready.”
Du Plessis’ experience of leading RCB for 42 games played a key role in his being named vice-captain of DC. During his tenure as captain, RCB won 21 and lost 21, and two out of three seasons finished with RCB qualifying for the playoffs. His leadership skills will provide stability and strategic depth to DC’s leadership team, particularly in their new adventure under the captaincy of Axar Patel.
Axar Patel to Captain DC in IPL 2025
After Rishabh Pant’s departure, Axar Patel has been made captain of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025. Axar, a long-time member of the franchise, thanked the team for offering him the captaincy of DC.
