Everywhere I go, I see his face, tweets one Twitter user

Three Arshdeep Singh jerseys were spotted during the second T20I between India and the West Indies, sending Twitter into a frenzy.

The start of India’s second T20I against West Indies was delayed twice due to luggage issues. The match, which was originally scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. IST, was delayed by two hours, then another hour, before finally beginning at 11 p.m. IST. Even before the game began, it appeared that not all Indian players had received their luggage on time, as a number of stars wore Arshdeep Singh’s jersey.

Naturally, this elicited a slew of bizarre tweets from Indian fans. Suryakumar Yadav opened the batting alongside Rohit Sharma, wearing the India left-arm bowler’s jersey. Then, when India batted in the second innings, right-arm bowler Avesh Khan donned Arshdeep’s jersey. Arshdeep, thankfully, also wore his own jersey.

Following the unusual scenes at Warner Park in Basseterre, fans had a good time on Twitter:

Earlier, the West Indies tied the T20I series with India after Obed McCoy thrashed the visitors for a record 6-17 in the second match. McCoy, a left-arm seamer, bowled the best T20I bowling figures for the West Indies, helping the team bowl out India for 138 in 19.4 overs.

West Indies made hard work of the chase, eventually finishing at 141-5 in the last over, three days after losing by 68 runs in the first match. The series is 1-1, with the third game on Tuesday remaining in Basseterre.

India captain Rohit Sharma defended his decision to give main striker bowler Kumar only two overs, both of which were in the powerplay.

“We know what Bhuvneshwar brings to the table, but if you don’t give Avesh or Arshdeep (Singh) a chance, you’ll never know what it’s like to bowl at the death for India,” Sharma said. “They did it in the IPL.” (This is) just one game; those guys shouldn’t be concerned. They require support and opportunities.”
