Did you know about these spectator injuries in cricket?

While in most cases, Cricket is considered to be a safe sport there are chances of injuries to spectators during a game.

Cricket fans are typically safe from harm, however, there have been cases where spectators have been hurt by some batters’ enormous sixes. Because the balls used in cricket are so rigid and harsh, a spectator at the stadium risks serious injury if they are not paying attention to the action. When sixes are thrown into the stands, spectators frequently try to snag the ball. Not all fans are outstanding fielders, and occasionally they can even hurt themselves.

Fortunately, there haven’t been many cricket-related injuries to spectators. Here are a few examples of when these batters’ huge sixes caused injury to fans in the stands.

Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle is renowned for his aggressive batting approach. The ‘Universe Boss’ batting frequently ignites the T20 Leagues around the globe. The fact that the legendary West Indian batsman frequently hits sixes when scoring runs makes his inclusion on this list much less shocking. Gayle’s sixes during the 2012 Indian Premier League (IPL) in Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium proved to be damaging to a girl. Gayle hit eight sixes while scoring 81 runs off of 48 deliveries. The girl in the audience was hurt in the nose when one of them struck her.

When Gayle learned about the tragedy, she immediately went to the Mallya Hospital. There, the girl had been accepted. The ‘Universe Boss’ received the highest number of sixes award, which he gave to the young fan.

David Miller

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is home to yet another incident of someone getting hurt. The IPL is one of the most well-known leagues in the world, but a shocking occurrence that happened during the IPL 2015 match between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders left everyone in disbelief. Punjab Kings are now known as Kings XI Punjab. The Knight Riders were competing against Punjab at Eden Gardens. The stadium was carefully secured as usual to avoid any mishaps.

Sadly, a policeman lost his sight after a six from the South African batter David Miller hit him in the right eye.

Cameron White

India played Australia in the second game of the three-match ODI series in Vizag after winning the two-match Test series. Australia had a score of 289 for three after 50 overs. 89 runs were scored by Cameron White off 49 balls, including 6 fours and 6s. One of the sixes was hammered towards long-on, where it rebounded and entered the first level, striking a spectator in the face.
