DER vs NOT: DLS Win For Notts In Vitality Blast 2025

It was a closely contested DER vs NOT North Group match of the 2025 Vitality Blast between Notts Outlaws and local rivals Derbyshire Falcons. Outlaws grabbed victory by seven wickets amidst a dramatic floodlight failure at the Central Co-op County Ground.

A power cut mid-innings stopped the chase, but following a revised DLS target of 120, Notts sealed the win by 7 wickets and 7 balls to spare.

DER vs NOT: Falcons Ride Donald’s Blitz Before Collapse

Derbyshire, who elected to bat, were left in disarray by two powerplay wickets, but the wicket was taken over by a blistering counter-attack by Aneurin Donald. His 50 from 22 balls, including five sixes and three fours, set alight the innings.

Highlights of Donald’s performance were:

Two consecutive sixes off Dillon Pennington, one hitting the scoreboard

A hit down the cover and another huge hit over mid-wicket

A breathtaking 21-ball half-century

But Donald’s removal on the first ball of the powerplay set off a collapse. Samit Patel, Martin Andersson, and Ross Whiteley were dismissed in quick succession as the hosts dived from 65/2 to 77/5.

Though a 41-run stand between Wayne Madsen (who completed 5,000 T20 runs) and Brooke Guest, the Falcons lost three wickets in the last over to finish with 162/9.

Outlaws Rebound with Calm Chase Regardless of Power Disruption

During the chase, Notts Outlaws were awakened early by the removal of Joe Clarke, who was caught on slip off Ben Aitchison in the first over. But an enduring partnership was then established between Lyndon James and Jack Haynes.

The pair scored 81 runs in 54 balls, both making clean shots and hitting the boundary consistently. Haynes was bowled for 43, caught at deep mid-on, and then James (43) in a similar fashion.

With 108/3 in the 13th over, momentum was building when floodlights failed to cast gloom on the ground.

DER vs NOT: DLS Drama and Seamless Finish for Outlaws

Following a short hold-up, play was resumed at 10:10 PM, with the revised DLS target of 120 runs. The Outlaws required only 12 runs from 15 balls, something easily ticked off by Tom Moores and Freddie McCann, with a wide from Pat Brown to seal victory.

Despite the loss, the Outlaws demonstrated composure and poise, handing Derbyshire another dismal outcome in the 2025 campaign.
