In a nail-biting showdown between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) during IPL 2025, three teams stepped into the playoffs. Gujarat Titans crushed Delhi’s total of 199 runs by defeating them by 10 wickets – courtesy of an impeccable century from Sai Sudharsan.
Gujarat Titans topped the table with 18 points. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings also confirmed a spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs with 17 points each.
Gujarat Titans’ Masterful Chase in DC vs GT: Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill’s 205-run Partnership

It ended up being a lopsided affair as the Gujarat Titans completed the chase of 200 runs set by the Delhi franchise without losing a wicket. The highlight of the chase was Sai Sudharsan with a glorious innings of 108 runs from 61 balls. He was well supported by Shubman Gill, who scored 93 runs from 53 balls. Sudharsan’s innings consisted of 12 fours and 4 sixes, while Gill hit 3 fours and 7 sixes.
This crushing stand not only guided Gujarat to a 10-wicket win but also saw them top the IPL 2025 table, having 18 points. Their win put Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Lucknow Super Giants at the mercy of each other for the last playoff position.
KL Rahul’s Century: A Star Performance That Went in Vain

At the same time, KL Rahul of the Delhi Capitals displayed incredible skill with the bat, scoring 112 runs not out off just 65 balls. Rahul’s 112, which included 14 fours and 4 six’s, helped set up Delhi’s score of 199/3. Rahul got going after Delhi’s slow start and, together with Abhishek Porel (30) and captain Akshar Patel (25), formed some valuable partnerships which kept Delhi’s innings on track.
Rahul’s brilliant century was sullied by the fact that it was all in vain as his side lost badly. Despite his heroic efforts, the Rajasthan bowlers, including Arshad Khan, Prasidh Krishna, and Sai Kishore, were able to curb the run flow from Delhi’s batsmen and got regular wickets.
Delhi Capitals’ Struggles with Early Overs
Delhi’s innings did not begin well. Having lost the toss, they were sent to bat first, and the early overs were sluggish. In the fourth over itself, Faf du Plessis got out cheaply for a mere 5 runs off 10 balls. The team was reeling at 19/1 in 4 overs, and it was Rahul who grabbed the situation by the scruff of the neck.
Rahul displayed his class by hitting sixes and boundaries, even going against the big guns such as Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan. He scored his half-century in mere 35 balls and dominated the bowling, including hitting two sixes and a four off Rabada, to take Delhi’s score to 45/1 in the powerplay.
Rahul and Porel’s Crucial Partnership

Rahul played a key role in speeding up the innings but had good support from Abhishek Porel, who scored 30 runs in a partnership of 90 runs for the second wicket. The two gave Delhi’s innings some momentum with Porel also hitting a few big ones, including a six off Prasidh Krishna.
But Delhi was dealt a huge blow as Porel was dismissed by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler on the bowling of Sai Kishore, getting out for 30. However, Rahul kept batting sensationally, even passing up a dropped catch on 71 by Sai Kishore from his bowling. The drop was a great let-off, but Rahul made the most of it.
Rahul’s Century: A Glimmer of Hope for DC
Even after losing their partners, KL Rahul went on a rampage towards his century. He reached the milestone in 60 balls, with a six and a four off Prasidh Krishna in the 19th over. With Tristan Stubbs (21*) contributing some quick runs at the end, DC completed their innings at 199/3 in 20 overs.
Gujarat’s Unstoppable Chase

In reply, Gujarat Titans wasted no time in asserting their dominance. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill attacked the bowlers from the word go. Their aggression made the chase look easy, and despite Delhi’s bowlers putting up a decent fight, they could not make a breakthrough.
Gujarat raced to the target without losing a wicket, securing a comprehensive 10-wicket win. This win guaranteed Gujarat’s position in the IPL 2025 playoffs and left Delhi Capitals battling for existence.
