IPL 2025 Snub, MLC Calling: David Warner Joins Seattle Orcas For New Season

Former Australia opener David Warner has joined the Seattle Orcas for the third edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament, which starts on June 12. This will be Warner’s first time playing in the USA-based T20 league, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Currently, Warner is playing in the Pakistan Super League 2025, where he is captaining the Karachi Kings. Over his cricket career, Warner has played 401 T20 matches, scoring 12,956 runs at a strike rate of 140.27.

The Seattle Orcas had a great start in the first season of Major League Cricket (MLC) in 2023, finishing at the top of the points table. However, they lost the final to MI New York. Their performance dropped in the second season, winning just one out of seven matches and ending last under captain Heinrich Klaasen.

The 2025 edition of MLC will take place from June 12 to July 13. Unlike last year, the tournament won’t clash with The Hundred in England, which means David Warner can also play for London Spirit without any schedule issues.

Warner went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, meaning he will miss the IPL for the first time since 2009. He is still the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history, with 6565 runs in 184 innings.

Warner had a great run in this year’s Big Bash League. He returned as captain of the Sydney Thunder and led them to the final. He scored 405 runs in 12 innings, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament.

Earlier in February, Warner was part of the Dubai Capitals team that won the ILT20 title.
