
In a disturbing incident, India cricketer Prithvi Shaw was attacked and his car, in which he was travelling with pals, was beaten with baseball bats by some fans who insisted on a repeat photo with them here late on Wednesday, according to police.
According to an official, the Oshiwara police registered a case against at least eight accused on Thursday based on a complaint lodged by Shaw’s pals under various sections of the Indian Criminal Code pertaining to unlawful assembly, intent to harm with weapons, and so on.

Shaw and pals, including Ashish Yadav, went out after dinner at a suburban five-star hotel near Mumbai Airport on Wednesday night.
Just thereafter, they were approached by some ostensibly admirers who requested selfies with Shaw, which he agreed, but a couple of them insisted on a second selfie, which he denied, citing the need for privacy with his pals.
Enraged by the denial, the purported supporters allegedly pounded and shattered the windscreen of his friend’s car with a baseball bat and attempted to chase Shaw with the weapon.
The celebrity cricketer can be seen wrestling with a young woman fan carrying a baseball bat presumably to assault him as he tries to save himself in a viral video of the event released by some spectators.
After Shaw and his friends drove away, the supporters followed in their vehicle, and both cars came to a stop near a police checkpoint before things seemed to calm down.
