“Cricket is going the way as Football”: Ex-Ind captain mock ICC for flagging too much county cricket

The former Indian captain and great all-rounder Kapil Dev has slammed the ICC for allowing too many county cricket leagues in different corners of the world. In the recent scenario South Africa T20 league and UAE T20 league has been licenced from the ICC over which Kapil dev got angry and he criticized the federation for minimising the ambit of international cricket.

As per the statement of Kapil, ICC is in the mood of transforming the cricket like the European football clubs, just by keeping the mega tournaments like World Cups as the place for the national teams to be played against each other. Except this rest of the cricket in between the two world cups will be carried out only in the way of County leagues which is more money manufacturing route for ICC as per Kapil.

In his latest interview given to the Sydney herald, he pointed out that, “I think it’s fading out. The ICC [International Cricket Council] has a bigger responsibility how to manage this game. Cricket is going the way as football in Europe. They don’t play against each country. It is once in four years [during the World Cup]. Is this what we’re going to have, the World Cup and the rest of the time playing club cricket”.

“In a similar way, will cricketers eventually be playing mainly the IPL or the Big Bash or something like that? So the ICC have to put more time into that to see how they can ensure the survival of one-day cricket, Test match cricket, not only club cricket”, Kapil added.
