Chris Jordan replaces injured Josh Tongue in England’s squad for T20Is against New Zealand

England’s fast-bowler Josh Tongue has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand due to injury.

Due to an injury, England’s fast-bowler Josh Tongue will not play in the next T20I series against New Zealand. His successor in the 15-man squad has been announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as fast-bowling all-arounder Chris Jordan.

Tongue, 25, was slated to make his white-ball debut for England after taking part in tests against Australia and Ireland during the domestic summer. In two Test matches, the right-arm bowler claimed 10 wickets while wowing everyone with his speed and movement.

He has withdrawn from the T20Is against New Zealand along with fellow uncapped bowler John Turner owing to injury. Jordan has 96 wickets in 87 T20 matches, making him England’s top wicket-taker.

The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia’s forthcoming season will be without left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone due to her dislocating her right shoulder, according to the ECB. The last game of The Hundred on Wednesday featured Manchester Originals, and Sophie, 24, suffered a shoulder injury during warm-up.

She was helped off the field at Old Trafford and taken to hospital for further scans on the injured shoulder. “Ecclestone has sustained a dislocated right shoulder. After scans and assessment, she will miss for the Women’s Big Bash League,” added the ECB.

The top-ranked bowler in ODIs and T20Is, Sophie, was already rested for England’s next T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka, which begins on August 31. There is no information on when Sophie will be able to play again.
