Chris Gayle: 357 sixes
Chris Gayle was one of the most destructive batters in the game’s history. His 100m plus hits often amazed his admirers. Gayle has the most sixes in IPL history, with 357 in 142 games. In fact, he is the only player in the IPL who has 300 sixes.
AB de Villiers: 251 sixes
De Villiers was a cricket rockstar and one of the most exciting players of all time. The daring batsman was also one of the most accurate batters. His 360-degree game was a hallmark of his career. De Villiers hit 251 sixes in 184 IPL games.
Rohit Sharma: 240 sixes
In the list of players who have hit the most sixes in IPL history, Rohit Sharma is ranked third. Sharma needs 11 more sixes to match AB de Villiers’ record of 251 sixes. The charismatic MI opener and skipper has 240 sixes in 227 IPL games.
MS Dhoni: 229 sixes
MS Dhoni’s finishing abilities are legendary. The opposition will never be able to relax till Dhoni is in the middle. Dhoni has blasted 229 sixes in 234 IPL appearances. One of Dhoni’s most memorable sixes in the IPL came when he used his trademark helicopter shot to strike a yorker length ball from Lasith Malinga.
Kieron Pollard: 223 sixes
Kieron Pollard, Mumbai’s all-time favourite all-rounder, has been the backbone of the MI side since his debut in the competition. Pollard’s ability to clear the rope with raw force never ceases to amaze the audience. Pollard has 223 sixes in 189 IPL appearances, which is the second-most by a MI batsman.
Virat Kohli: 218 sixes
Despite never winning the IPL as a player or captain, run machine Virat Kohli has had a tremendous effect on the tournament. Kohli takes the lead whenever his team has to accelerate. Kohli’s six-hitting ability has improved over the previous five years. Kohli has hit 218 sixes in 223 IPL appearances, ranking third among RCB players and third among Indian players.
Overall, David Warner has been one of the top overseas players in the IPL. Just a few other players can compete with Warner’s six-hitting ability. Warner has hit 216 sixes in 162 IPL appearances. He also has the most sixes by an Australian player in IPL history.
Suresh Raina: 203 sixes
Suresh Raina will be remembered as one of the most influential players in IPL history. ‘Mr. IPL’ was always a member of the CSK starting Lineup. After playing 158 games in a row, he missed his first match for the yellow brigade in 2018. The highlights of his game-play were his renowned inside-out six-hitting ability. Raina hit 203 sixes in 205 IPL games.
Shane Watson: 190 sixes
Watson is widely recognised as one of the greatest cricket ball hitters of all time. Watson was a vital piece in CSK’s 2018 victory, smashing two centuries, including one in the final. In 145 IPL games, Watson blasted 190 sixes.
Robin Uthappa: 182 sixes
Robin Uthappa was one of the most influential players in the history of the IPL. Uthappa used to come down the track and hit the bowlers for maximums during his playing days. His favourite hit was a six-run straight-batted homer. Uthappa hit 182 sixes in 205 IPL games.
