Virender Sehwag was one of the best captains of Delhi Capitals (Delhi Daredevils). He led the team from 2008 to 2013 and had both successes and tough challenges. He is known for his aggressive batting style and brought that same energy to his captaincy. Even though he could not win the IPL trophy for Delhi still he played an important role in shaping the team. Under his guidance, players like Shikhar Dhawan and Gautam Gambhir have grown. He was one of the boldest captains ever in the history of Delhi Capitals.
2. Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir was the best captain of the Delhi Capitals, he led the team from the Indian Premier League from 2010 to 2018 and had both good and failed moments. Even though Gambhir achieved personal success like being the first player from Delhi Daredevils to score over 1000 runs in a season, the team did not win any big trophies during his captaincy, also the team struggled to be consistently good. In 2018, Gautam Gambhir decided to step down as captain and put the team’s success above his role.
3. Mahela Jayawardene
Mahela Jayawardene was the captain of the Delhi Capitals. His duration of leading the team for a short time but made a big impact in the IPL season. He took charge in the 2012 Champions League T20 and led the team for the 2013 IPL season. Although the team did not do great overall and finished last in 2013. He was known for being calm and composed which created a positive atmosphere in the team. However, the team faced challenges with a not-so-consistent bowling attack and struggled to make the right combinations.
4. Kevin Pietersen
Kevin Pietersen was the captain of Delhi Daredevils which is now known as Delhi Capitals. He became captain only for just one season in 2014 but he made a big impact. He led the team with his outstanding performance scoring 305 runs at a super-fast strike rate of 147 including a match-winning century. In the end, Delhi finished in the middle of the table that year. Even though they showed moments of brilliance under Pietersen, they could not win.

Jean-Paul Duminy became the captain of Delhi Daredevils in the 2015 IPL season. He has taken charge after a tough season for the team, even though some were unsure about him as a captain, he showed leadership both on and off the field. Duminy led by example with his batting skills who scored important runs throughout the season. He also made decisions with bowling changes and fielding as well. However, the team did not do well overall and ended up in sixth place on the points table.
6. Zaheer Khan
Zaheer Khan was the captain of Delhi Daredevils in 2016. He only captained for one season. He was good at planning strategies against other teams because of his years of playing at the international level. But later he had some injuries, and that affected how much he could play on the field. Because of this the team had some ups and downs and finished sixth in the standings which is not exactly where they wanted to be. He also mentored young players like Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer which helped them to play further matches with strategies.
7. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer led the Delhi Capitals in the IPL for two years, from IPL 2019 to 2020. The team did well in 2019 which made it to the playoffs after seven years and in 2020, they even reached the IPL final. He was one of the positive and enthusiastic captains of Delhi Capitals, and the team liked playing under him. Also, his batting performance got better when he was the captain. But in 2021, he hurt his shoulder and because of that injury, he had to miss half of the season. Because of his injury, Rishabh Pant took over as the captain.
8. Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant is one of the young captains of Delhi Capitals in the 2021-22 IPL season. He became the youngest captain to lead a team to the playoffs but unfortunately, the team lost in the Qualifier 2 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He brought out the best in some players like Axar Patel and Avesh Khan. However, because Pant was a new captain, he also showed some signs of not having much experience. In 2022, he met with an accident that caused his major injuries and he did not play in IPL 2022 and further.
9. David Warner
David Warner has taken charge as the captain of Delhi Capitals in the 2023 IPL season because of the injury of Pant. He led the team well for the entire edition. But could not manage to qualify for the season and ended up in 9th position. The performance was not so good in the IPL season 2023.

These nine captains of Delhi Capitals have proven that they gave their efforts to the team and the team members to make their franchise win the match, although they were unable to win the trophy not for even once yet. But it can be possible in the upcoming seasons.
