Jasprit Bumrah, who was forced to withdraw from the T20 World Cup and the Asia Cup 2022 owing to a back ailment, has re-joined the national team after receiving rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah was disqualified from the T20 World Cup on Monday, dealing a serious blow to India’s hopes for the competition. In a formal statement, the BCCI acknowledged the development and promised to select a replacement soon.
Due to a back issue, Bumrah also withdrew from the Asia Cup in 2022. He later re-joined the national team after receiving rehabilitation at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy. Prior to Australia’s cricket spectacular, which began on October 16th, he was selected for the home T20I series against Australia and South Africa.
The pacer, who had played in the series against Australia, was, however, suddenly removed from the South Africa-U.K. T20I series. Numerous cricket fans have criticized the player on social media when the news first broke for being accessible for his franchise while neglecting his national obligations.
After Bumrah left from the T-20 World Cup due to injury took a sly shot at the detractors in a cryptic Instagram post. Bumrah said that You will never arrive at your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks, the pacer said in a picture that he posted on Instagram on Wednesday night.
Bumrah had written a letter to the fans the day after it was made official that the pacer wouldn’t be competing in the World Cup, sharing his thoughts on the missed opportunity. “Although I am heartbroken that I won’t be playing in this year’s T20 World Cup, I am grateful for the kind wishes, concern, and support I have gotten from my loved ones. I’ll be supporting the squad throughout their Australian campaign as I heal.” Bumrah posted a tweet.
Although the BCCI has not yet named a replacement for Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj continue to be the front-runners for the position. For the South Africa T20Is, Siraj was brought in to replace Bumrah, while Chahar and Shami are reserves.
