Breach of Contract’: BCCI Bosses Displeased with Virat Kohli’s Instagram Post

Virat Kohli’s recent Instagram story, in which he disclosed his yo-yo fitness test score, has not gone down well with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials. Following the viral Instagram post, the Indian team management swiftly issued a strict directive to all Indian cricketers. They were told not to share their yo-yo test scores on social media as it falls under confidential information. The directive was communicated verbally to the players during the fitness and preparatory camp at Alur in Bengaluru before the Asia Cup, according to The Indian Express.

In his Instagram story, Kohli revealed his yo-yo test result of 17.2, surpassing the BCCI’s fitness requirement of 16.5. BCCI took immediate action in response to the public disclosure, reminding players that revealing confidential information on public platforms could result in a ‘breach of contract.’

A BCCI official stated, “Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause,” as reported in the article.

Training Camp Details for Asia Cup Preparation Indian cricketers preparing for the Asia Cup are engaged in a six-day training camp at Alur, which commenced on Thursday. According to PTI, Kohli, along with India’s captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya, took the yo-yo fitness test on the first day of the camp and successfully passed.

The camp primarily includes players from the Asia Cup squad who did not participate in the Ireland series after the West Indies tour. This list features Kohli, Rohit, Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, among others.

Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma, who were part of the Indian team that defeated Ireland 2-0 in the T20I series, are expected to join the camp on Friday, flying from Dublin to Bengaluru.

While the first day of the camp focused mainly on indoor drills, except for the yo-yo test, there will be more outdoor activities starting from Friday. However, players returning from Ireland might not undergo the Yo-Yo test, as they will participate in skill-set training during the camp.

Throughout the camp, various parameters of the players’ health will be assessed, including lipid profile, blood sugar levels, uric acid, calcium, Vitamin B12 and D levels, creatinine, testosterone, and Dexa tests.

Apart from fitness routines, the outdoor sessions will include match simulation exercises overseen by head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour.

India’s matches in the Asia Cup will all take place in Sri Lanka, with their first match against Pakistan scheduled for September 2.
