The explosive style of batting in Twenty20 sometimes means an assault on the bowlers. The astonishing numbers produced by batters often come at the expense of bowlers.
While the batters come with the mindset to score the maximum runs in the fewest balls possible, bowlers find themselves at the receiving end as they get punished on the field.
Here are the bowlers who have conceded most runs in one over in T20I:

Nalin Nipiko- 39
Vanuatu’s medium pacer Nalin Nipiko holds the record for the most runs in one over in T20I at 39. In a T20I game against Samoa at the 2026 T20 World Cup regional qualifier in Apia, Nipiko got hammered for 39 runs by opponent batter Darius Visser
Visser led the assault in the inning’s 15th over by hitting six sixes in the over, while Nipiko delivered three no balls producing the most expensive over in the history of T20I cricket.
Stuart Broad- 36
Yuvraj Singh smashed Stuart Broad for six maximums during a group stage match between India and England at the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. With that feat Singh became the first batter in the history of T20I cricket to hit six sixes in an over.
It was the penultimate over when the left-handed batter slammed the ball to all parts of the ground to reach his fifty in just 12 balls and got most runs in one over in T20I.
Akila Dananjaya- 36
Sri Lankan bowler Akila Dananjaya was at the receiving end of West Indian power-hitter Kieron Pollard who went on a rampage. He smashed six straight sixes in the sixth over in the Sri Lanka vs West Indies match in 2021.
It came as an anti-climax for Dananjaya, who had taken a hat-trick in his previous over. With the beating, he became a bowler to concede most runs in one over in T20I.
Kamran Khan- 36
Qatar medium pacer Kamran Khan was punished by Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee in the final over of the innings during an ACC Premier Cup match at Al Amarat in 2024. Airee hit six sixes off Khan to become one of the bowlers to concede most runs in a single over in T20I.
Karim Janat- 36
in 2024 Afghanistan’s Karim Janat also conceded 36 runs in an over against India to become one of the bowlers to concede most runs in one over in T20I. However, that over that included only five sixes. There was one no-ball in that over, a boundary and a single, too, with Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh plundering the runs.
Azmatullah Omarzai- 36
In 2024, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai also conceded 36 runs in a single over against West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2024. While 26 runs came off Nicholas Pooran’s bat, the remaining 10 were extras. He, thus, became a bowler to concede most runs in one over in T20I.
